What brought Bonnie to the SOAR program

(If you don’t want to read my story, feel free to skip to the next section!)

Successful business owner

For more than 25 years, I ran a successful consulting company. I loved my work, loved my clients, and felt good about the worthwhile projects we completed. Our company won awards for its ground-breaking projects that made life better for literally thousands of people. I made a wonderful living.

During that time, I was also on a spiritual journey. It gradually occurred to me that I could weave some of my spiritual practices into the work I did. I learned to clear toxic energy, amplify the power of positive intention, and help my clients magnetize the best possible results.

I didn’t talk about the spiritual part of my work. (Frankly, I was afraid my organizational clients would think I was flaky!) But I continued to be more and more in awe of the miraculous results that happened when I silently worked with the energy and spirit and intention of situations my clients faced. Long-standing conflicts were resolved or simply disappeared. Amazing and previously unheard-of coalitions allowed people to amplify and leverage their resources. Money showed up from unexpected places. Results exceeded expectations.

Explicit spiritual work

And then I had the luxury of a project in which I could be explicit with my client about the spiritual part of my work. It was heaven! In private, along with our primary client, our team meditated together on our intention for the highest good, asked for divine guidance, cleared the energy in rooms and invited all the help that was available to us from the universe. In public, we worked with almost 1,000 people from all parts of the criminal justice system — police, victim services, prosecutors, court workers, judges, jail guards and probation or parole officers. At the end of the project, all of us were amazed by what had been accomplished. Our primary client said, “I guess we know why that went so well, don’t we?” He was referring to the spiritual work we did in private.

That project was a turning point for me. Not only was I proud of work we accomplished (an award from the Premier of our province was icing on the cake), but I realized that, as much as I had enjoyed working on the project, what I had really enjoyed was the explicit energy and spiritual work. I no longer wanted to “weave in” the spiritual work. I wanted that to be my work.

A new business

I decided to start a new business – Soul Power Wisdom Inc. – for the purpose of sharing what I have learned about spiritual techniques and pathways with other entrepreneurs. I was clear that this new business was a vehicle for me to express the next phase of my life purpose in a new form. I was SO excited!

And then… just when fairy tales would say “happily ever after,” I had two of the toughest years of my life!

That would be me and thousands of other entrepreneurs as the economy tanked and the world was in turmoil.

After 25-plus years of operating a successful multiple-six-figure business where perfect clients and projects just flowed in, projects dried up. Revenue dried up. The projects I had were no longer profitable.

I cannot say “the economy” was what created financial pressure for me. Of course, none of us is immune to events going on in the world. But, as I told a friend one day, “My personal economy was already in trouble before the rest of the world crashed.” She laughed and said, “I’m not surprised. You always were ahead of the curve.”

I laughed too. Sort of.

Dark night of the soul

Turmoil in the world was merely a mirror of what was happening inside me. Sure, there were financial challenges. But those were just the outer expressions of an inner journey.

My energy and focus disappeared. I knew what I “should” do, but I could not make myself do it. I took the courses, I signed up for high-end mastermind groups, I attended spectacular events. But I couldn’t implement anything. I understood the concepts. I just couldn’t do it!

After a lifetime of high energy, multi-tasking and six impossible things before breakfast, I felt like the energy bunny whose battery died. After a lifetime of optimism and enthusiasm, I felt hope disappearing.

I was experiencing a dark night of the soul.

The ultimate irony

Here I was, committed to helping other entrepreneurs learn about the energy techniques I had honed and refined – and my own energy was dissipated and unfocused.

Here I was, promising I could help others connect with their deepest wisdom. When I worked with coaching clients, we knew that happened for them. They were able to tap into their wisest and most expansive selves. And at the same time, for the first time since I began my conscious spiritual journey, I felt disconnected from my own Source, my own soul and deepest wisdom.

Upswing

For the past six months, I’ve been on the upswing. I have learned an amazing amount about the dark and light side of spiritual and business growth. And, though it’s been tough, I am profoundly grateful for the depth and learning. I am ready!

Two recent events propelled me forward even more…

• I attended “Immunity to Change,” with researchers and educators Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey of Harvard University. There I learned a specific change process that is the best I have experienced – and I have a Master’s degree in Organizational Systems Design with a focus on transformational change!

• A friend and coach, Carol Greenaway, guided me through a “Core Alignment” process and it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I say without a shred of arrogance, I got to experience my divinity. And nothing will ever be the same.

The logic of SOAR – a live event with follow-up support

The SOAR event started out to be a small group coaching program – via telephone and online contact – about the change process and moving through blocks. But then I wanted to put that into the context of our bigger life purpose – and business success! I also realized that for the depth of work I wanted to do, people would need to know, trust and feel safe with one another. I didn’t think that kind of connecting could happen virtually. And so… I decided to have a live event.

What about the “spiritual” part of this workshop?
